Helicon (Neo Psychedelic Rock, Glasgow)
was formed by brothers John-Paul and Gary Hughes in East Kilbride, Glasgow, Scotland. Known for the intensity of their live shows, their sound blends psychedelia, electronica, guitars and sitars with a spirit of counter-cultural experimentation. Since signing to Fuzz Club in 2017, their music has featured on BBC Radio 6 Music, and they’ve previously collaborated with Tony Doogan (Mogwai / Delgados / Belle [&] Sebastian / David Byrne), Will Carruthers (Spacemen 3 / The Brian Jonestown Massacre/ Spiritualized / Dead Skeletons), and Mark Gardener (Rid
Their 4th studio album, ARISE, a collaboration with LA-based artist and DJ AL Lover, is out Friday 13th February
The band has toured UK/EU regularly over the last 5-6 years including sold out shows in Glasgow, London, Manchester, Paris, Berlin, with show stealing performances at major festivals including Fuzz Club Eindhoven, Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia, Manchester Psych Fest. Edinburgh Psych Fest, Stellar Swamp Fest and Kelburn Garden Party.

Abseits gewöhnlicher Songstrukturen, lange hypnotische Tracks die zum Abdriften einladen und still stehen unmöglich machen. „In Songlängen zwischen 15 und gefühlt unendlich vielen Minuten verstehen es die vier Frankfurter die Grenzen von Raum und Zeit derart zu dehnen, mittels komplexer Strukturen mit unberechenbarer Rhythmik Spannungsbögen fast unmerklich aufzubauen bis zur klimaktischen Explosion, sich zwischendurch durchaus auch immer wieder zurückzunehmen und mit Theremin und anderen Effekten eine wirklich galaktische Atmosphäre zu erzeugen, dass sich der Hörer wirklich komplett verlieren kann in diesem ganz ureigenen musikalischen Universum.
